As the demand for traffic continues to grow and the available spectrum remains finite, the maximization of spectrum efficiency becomes increasingly important. One method for increasing channel capacity involves the use of orthogonal polarizations, which enables the same frequency to be utilized for both transmission and reception. While VP/HP cannot be used in ring topology networks with an odd number of nodes, the inclined polarization method actually increases the capacity on a link by enabling the use of two polarization directions on all links. If the number of nodes is even, VP/HP enables the same theoretical maximum bandwidth as inclined polarization, but with degraded performance near the band bounds. This creates more channel capacity for all networks. Until now, this method has only worked for point-to-point links.
As other types of ring topology networks are also widely used in common networks such as 3G, and increasingly used in 4G networks, this solution remains partial. The patented 5G SpectruMaxTM polarization diversity invention utilizes a novel data/signal communication technique to increase spectrum efficiency in electromagnetic communication networks with closed loops (ring topology networks).
– This technology is intended for single static or dynamic channel ring topology communication networks with an odd number of acute angles between nodes – not necessarily neighboring nodes as the algorithm calculates all the possible combinations. This algorithm can also be beneficial for existing networks with a suitable receiver/transmitter and antenna.
